Ge Da Soup

The Ge Da Soup is a Chinese dish and not a Korean influenced one at all. It is a basic homestyle noodle soup dish from Shandong province. Shandong cuisine is better known as the modern day Beijing cuisine, and the representative of the Northern Chinese cuisine. Things like the La Pi (aka Liang Zhang Pi; two pieces of skin) and Gan Peng dishes have all originated from Shandong.

Have you found a good version of Ge Da Soup in the Bay Area? I’ve tried the stir fried ge da at Old Mandarin Islamic in SF, and am not too impressed with it. If you have already answered this question and I haven’t read far enough back, I apologize!!

No, actually I haven’t really looked for it actively. Since it is more of a home made style food, I don’t think any restaurant can match the exact flavor of it that I remember from childhood. But if you find anything that is worth trying, let me know.
